The Knight Group
Harnessing biomimetic hierarchical structure in synthetic macromolecules
At the interface of chemical biology and polymer science, the Knight Group coalesces frontier synthetic, characterization, and analysis techniques from both fields to develop and harness protein-mimetic hierarchical structure in synthetic macromolecules. These fundamental design principles for macromolecule structure are a critical component of their function, and thus requisite for the development of scalable materials with tunable properties to tackle contemporary challenges in global health and sustainability.
We value an environment that promotes education, open communication, and collaboration between people with different scientific and personal backgrounds. By teaching, learning, and actively implementing principles of intersectionality and social justice, we strive to uphold an inclusive community. Our goal is to challenge, to mentor, and to champion our researchers in their academic, professional, and personal aspirations.
